Entries are now open for the RGS Congress on Sunday 7th November (10am to 4pm):
Due to Covid-19 Restrictions on mixing households and school facilities not currently being available for external organisations, we are unable to plan for any face to face NJCA tournaments to take place over the next few months.
However, we are working on ideas to provide online events and will update this website in due course.
We hope all our Northumbria Junior Chess Community is keeping safe and well at this time and look forward to seeing everyone once we are able to do so!
Entries are now open for the Dame Allan’s Congress on Saturday 7th March (10am to 4pm):
Please note, following a trial run at the recent RGS congress, we will be offering an U7 (Year 2 and under) event from 12:30pm to 4pm alongside the main competition.
Entries are now open for our second NJCA Congress of the year which will take place at the RGS on Saturday 9th November.
Please note that this event will run, as normal, from 10am to 4pm for all sections apart from U7s (Year 2 or below) which we are trialling as an afternoon session running from 12:30 to 4pm.
We are now pleased to be able to announce most of our events for this academic year along with others which may be of interest to NJCA children and parents.
Please see our Events section for details!
Our first event is the NPS NJCA Congress and AGM at Newcastle Prep School Sports Hall on Saturday 19th October. Enter online here!
Please note that if your child has qualified for the Megafinal at RGS on the 18th May via either school or the Last Chance Saloon, the UK Chess Challenge have placed a deadline of 11th May for entries.
You can enter via this link:https://www.delanceyukschoolschesschallenge.com/product/2019-northumbria-megafinal-18th-may/
You will know if your child has qualified if they have been given a ‘Golden Ticket’ from their school or the LCS (different rules apply to Senior School age children). Please do check that your child has qualified before entering.
Please note, although the NJCA assists in this event by providing equipment and volunteers, it is organised under the remit of the UK Chess Challenge.
We are pleased to be hosting our annual UK Chess Challenge Last Chance Saloon and U11 Congress on 4th May at St Mary’s Church Hall, Ponteland between 2pm and 6pm.
This event is open to anyone in Year 6 or below. The ‘Last Chance Saloon’ section provides an an additional opportunity for anyone who has not qualified for the regional Megafinal to get through to that stage (senior school children qualify automatically). Alongside this we hold a ‘normal’ U11 tournament!
Online entry now open for our next NJCA event at Dame Allan’s on Saturday 2nd March 2019. All abilities welcome!
Our next Congress takes place at St Mary’s Church Hall in Ponteland on Saturday 17th November.
